Speaking SMS & Call Announcer is an app that lets you listen to a voice telling you about text messages and phone calls that you get, which doesn't require you look at your phone.

When you're in the middle of a long day, you don't always have time to pause and take a look at your phone because it started ringing or you received a text message. Whether you need to do some work at the office, or you just want to play with your kids, you don't want to feel chained to your phone. This app will tell you who is calling and who sent you a text message to let you know whether you should reach for your phone.

This app has a basic interface that shows you the features available, though many users find that they do not use most of those features. It can do a diagnostic scan of your phone and use a real voice to let you know what it found, and it has a battery announcer that tells you when you need to charge your battery. The most important features of Speaking SMS & Call Announcer is its call announcer and text message announcer.

Before using this app, you can filter out the results that you hear. You can choose to have the app only tell you when someone on your contact list calls or sends a message, and you can have the app give you notifications about numbers it doesn't recognize such as those from blocked or private numbers. The app gives you multiple ways to turn off the voice too like with a simple shake of your phone. You can even adjust the pitch of the speaking voice and change the volume too.

The speech rate is an important feature you should check out. This tells the voice whether to speak at a normal rate, and increase speed or a slower rate. It has a repetition setting too that will repeat the voice you hear multiple times until you shake your phone, touch the screen or do another simple action. You can make some of the same changes to the notifications that come through when you get a text message.

While Speaking SMS & Call Announcer will not read full text messages to you, this app is handy because it lets you know who is calling you and who sent you a message.
